Making this painting I got more aware that without knowing my dark side, I don't know myself. Darkness is an integral part of human existence.
When it comes to alive cities the same is true. There are dark spots in any city where I perceive this burning energy. During my daily walks through Marvila, Lisbon I sometimes came across places where a group of homeless people permanently live in tents. These are the spots I have in mind when it comes to burning energy. These people are an integral part of the city but live abandoned, outside society.
